Important Notice

Life Saving Victoria experienced a cyber incident on 28 November 2023 that resulted in unauthorised access to data held on a server.

The server was immediately secured and the incident did not impact our operations. We took immediate steps to investigate the incident as well as implement additional security controls. This meant that we were able to contain the incident in a short space of time. Furthermore, we appointed cyber security experts to help us limit the impact of the incident.

The data held on the single impacted server, included limited types of personal information relating to our Victorian Water Safety Certificate application.

We adopted a prudent and cautious approach in our assessment of the incident. We sent notifications to any impacted individuals that we considered had a likely but limited risk of any harm, which included actions they could take to limit the risk.

We also reported the incident to the Office of the Australian Information Commission and the Australian Cyber Security Centre.

No organisation is immune to cyber-crime and we are disappointed that we have now experienced such an incident. We sincerely apologise for any distress, concern or inconvenience this has caused.
